This could be a ground breaking trial and we here at the Tony Batman’s A Entertainment News are very interested to see how this plays out in court. We believe that you should not flat out lie in your articles, we don’t do it, no news site should do it. In almost every public forum, when a story is told, sparkles and glitter are added for color and depth… But lie telling is not a good practice, read much more below……………
from the- daily mail.co.uk – A federal jury began deliberations Wednesday in the defamation lawsuit filed against a gossip site by a former Cincinnati Bengals cheerleader who admitted to having an affair with a teenage boy.
Addressing the 10-member panel this morning, lawyers for both sides said that the verdict in the case could have far-reaching implications for websites nationwide.
Sarah Jones is seeking damages from thedirty.com and its operator over posts made in 2009 on the Arizona-based website.
One post claimed she had sex with every Bengals player, and the other said she probably had two sexually transmitted diseases. She says both are false and has accused website operator Nik Richie of malice.
Jones’ lawyer Eric Deters told jurors in his closing arguments they have a chance to send a message to sites across the country that they should be careful and ‘it’s not right to defame people.’
He said Richie is guilty of malice by posting submissions Richie says were anonymous. Even though Richie eventually took the posts down months later, they will never be off the Internet, Deters said.
