From ED Publications.com – It’s a rare thing for a “strip club” ad to be accepted for publication, let alone acknowledged by a mainstream organization for their style and creativity.   But that’s exactly what happened when the American Advertising Federation (AAF) Awards show—the “Addys”—presented ad design firm The Hucksters with two Addy Awards
for the full-page advertisements they created for the Penthouse Club in Baton Rouge, LA. The Awards show, held at the House of Blues in Houston, saw The Hucksters ad agency pick up two surprise awards. Lauded for their print advertising for the Baton Rouge, LA Penthouse Club, the creative boutique won two Addy Awards from the AAF, a rare
honor for adult nightclub advertising.

Risqué was the word of the evening, as the two ads burst through taboos. One extremely provocative ad, touting the grand opening of the Penthouse Club in Baton Rouge, featured a close-up of a pair of breasts with the headline, “Come Meet the New Neighbors.”

The second racy award-winning ad, running on Election Day 2012, used the headline “Remember To Go To The Poles.” Below it, were photos of exotic dancers twirling on stripper poles. The copy read: “And they say money ruins elections! Use your dollar bills to elect your favorite dancer at the Penthouse Club tonight.”

“It was a nice surprise to be handed awards for such politically incorrect work – especially in Texas,” said Peter Wood, Creative Director of The Hucksters.

Wood credited the club’s owners Kirkendoll Management, and in particular, the Penthouse Club’s general manager Bryant Emiliani and director of marketing Irina Tkacheva, for the win. “Kirkendoll Management is one of the few gentlemen’s club owners that understand the importance of good advertising,” Wood said. “We’ve forged a great partnership with them, and they allow us to produce simple, witty,sexy work.”

The Hucksters and Kirkendoll Management have been working together for five years. The agency handles the advertising and marketing for the Penthouse Club in Baton Rouge and the Penthouse Club in New Orleans as well as Kirkendoll Management’s Crazy Horse Cabarets in Port Allen and Gonzales, Louisiana.
