West Palm Beach, FL – A music video produced for Jupiter, FL, native Casey Derhak was honored with an Award of Merit at 2013’s The Indie Fest. “Off the Back of the Boat” was shot over three days on a micro-budget with a skeleton crew, including capturing spontaneous events as Derhak played for appreciative fans through- out Palm Beach County.
“It’s very humbling to be awarded for something that I love to do,” states Derhak, who currently resides in Nashville. “Amazing seeing a song I wrote come to life on the screen and just lucky to have worked with such talented people who made this video as great as it is and ever could be.”
“When I first heard “Off the Back of the Boat”, it conjured up so many fun memories of being out on the water with my friends and family,” states Executive Producer Travis Suit. “It’s all about enjoying the great gifts of sun, sand, and smiles—which made Palm Beach County the perfect location, it’s all here in our backyard.”
“Off the Back of the Boat” was directed and edited by award-winning filmmaker Aaron Wells and co-produced by Jared Kaufmann, both Wellington residents. Venture Boat Company and Tito’s Vodka provided additional production support.
“Creating content with very limited resources is always a challenge. Thanks to local support, including businesses, residents, family, and friends, we created a much bigger look at a fraction of the cost,” adds Wells. “Without compromising our vision.”
The Indie Fest recognizes film professionals who demonstrate exceptional achievement in craft and creativity, and those who produce standout entertainment or contribute to profound social change. Entries are judged by highly qualified professionals in the film industry.
