DJ Ron James here on Sparkypalooza, my education of some of the best gentlemen’s clubs in South Florida and their extremely talented D.J.s, as well as my first part in Planet Platypus Radio!!
After a long night at work and more than 24 hours awake, I couldn’t wait to get to Miami to kick off the shindig! Not only would I be hanging out with 2011 and 2012 Employees of the year, D.J. Platypus and D.J. Johnny Walker respectively, but I’d get to see 2011 Entertainer of the Year Christina Aguchi. Not to mention a laundry list of South Florida’s best, brightest, and side splittingly funniest.
Saturday morning I arrived to find Planet Platypus’s own Daisy Duxe at the airport to pick me up. We were joined by D.C.’s number one D.J., Mark “Magik” Wagoner. I can’t wait to come up and check out this guy’s show!
Our windy morning quickly turned into a crazy night (the parts I remember.) I got to see some of the best clubs in Miami/Ft. Lauderdale in full swing! Thanks to the staffs at Diamond Dolls, Booby Trap, Centerfolds, Pure Platinum, Solid Gold and Tootsie’s for an excellent time. South Florida knows adult entertainment! It was one helluva start for sure. Thanks as well to Bobby and Cindy Mac, Enrique Arellano, Shark Sharkman, Amber Yeisely, Alec Lepper, Mike Valentine, John Hardin, Jerry Barbieri as well as many other D.J.s and Friends that withstood Hurricane Sparkman on Day 1.
Sunday started with a painful attempt to wake up, a dinner at Hard Rock, and recollections of the trickery and shenanigans of the night before. This time we were joined by Christina Aguchi
and many of the Top D.J.s that couldn’t get out the night before. We then went to hang with Johnny Walker on his Sunday night party. Not a usual thing for him, he rocked the show like it was still Friday night and we all had a killer time. I know I shazamed about half the show that night.
Monday night was our trip to Dean’s Gold. Tons of beautiful women and a great vibe to the room. This time we were joined by Tootsie’s Assistant General Manager, Mike Bianco and Kevin “Wilsonville” Murphy, one of the top jocks out of Portland. It was an excellent night of drinking and laughter ended by the famous “Ball Kicking Incident” (You’ll have to check out Planet Platypus for more details on that!)
Tuesday was finally the day of the Planet Platypus Radio Show
, hosted by D.J. Platypus, D.J. Johnny Walker, Bobby Mac, Daisy Duxe and special guest star Layla the Producer. This was the biggest show so far featuring an interview with Christina Aguchi, Nerd Bowl
featuring myself and Shark Sharkman, and the Spelling Bee with Amber and Kevin. TONS of laughs that night. I was honored to be a part of this show and to help Bobby Mac and Sharkman come up with some RIDICULOUS words for the Spelling Bee. The whole crew was great and I look forward to being more and more involved with my great friends in the future.
My final night out was to see Lukester at Cheetah in Hallandale. The club looked and ran great. Luke’s one of the most complete D.J.s in the business and had all of us swinging and swaying. There was a Guch and Johnny Walker stage bomb and even an impromptu Gangnam Style dance off led by D.J. Platypus.
Since I wore myself out on this, my last two days were spent recovering to come home, but this was an incredible trip. My goal is to one day not only be as great of a D.J. as these guys are, but as great of a person. Thanks to all the clubs and jocks who put on killer shows in one of the toughest markets in the business. Special Thanks to D.J. Platypus for putting this together, giving me a place to stay, sharing his future dreams about how much BIGGER this D.J. brotherhood can and will get, and all his hard work with Exotic Dancer
to legitimize our voice in the game. Other special shout out goes to my home boys Enrique and DJ Johnny Walker for rocking out great shows at Thee New Dollhouse’s sister club, Solid Gold in Fort Lauderdale!
The next two big events are December 1st and 2nd for Thee New Dollhouse’s First Inaugural Golf Outing
(sign up now!) and the New Year’s Eve Party at Tootsie’s! See ya there!
