Schevelle’s G-String Chronicles: North Carolina Has Sum Poosie, It’s Pink And Tasty

This week I was at the Gold Club in Greensboro, North Carolina. This club was brand-spanking new. People were teasing me about going to Greensboro because it was a small town, but when I walked in to the club I was floored. The Gold Club could have been in any major city and held its own. The lighting system alone was very impressive. Two things struck me about this club… (one) was that it was one of  the few clubs where you can still smoke and (two) being Sum Poosie.

Now ever since I was introduced to Sum Poosie, I have been intrigued. The fact that a drink can have that name is awesome. How can you not love it? It’s an energy drink that is, of course, pink. Pink bottle, pink liquid, and cute bottle model wearing pink. From a business standpoint, the fact that this drink is so popular is interesting. Get this, very little advertising and I don’t really see it outside of the state of North Carolina, but it’s damn good and people buy it. Now I hate energy drinks, but when the floorman, Robbie brought Sum Poosie to my dressing room… I was so happy. I was surprised to get Sum Poosie before my show. I had Sum Poosie in my dressing room. Then I had Sum Poosie on the counter of my dressing room. I had Sum Poosie on the floor of the club. I had Sum Poosie in my hand and then in my mouth. I even thought about sharing Sum Poosie, but considering I never get it, I had to keep Sum Poosie to myself. See how much fun this drink is?! So, after I finished Sum Poosie, I requested Sum Poosie for later.  Now I have to take a cold shower… for like six hours.

Now On to my interview with Barbie:

Barbie: From Raleigh, North Carolina
ME: Why do you do this job?
Barbie: I love money. I enjoy making money.
Me: What is your favorite thing about dancing?
Barbie: The hours. The hours are perfect. I like being able to have fun while making money.
Me: What is a misconception people have about this business?
Barbie: Strippers are all prostitutes or whores. Not every dancer is a prostitute. Dancers do have dreams and things they want to accomplish in life.
Me: If you could change one thing about the industry, what would you change?
Barbie: I wouldn’t change a thing. Over the years the entertainment business changes itself. I would change myself before I would change the industry.
Me: What is your favorite color?
Barbie: Pink – it kind of goes with the whole Barbie thing. Ever since I was young I have loved pink, because it is a bright and relaxing color.
Me: What is your favorite food?
Barbie: Sweets! Anything sweet, cake, Ice-cream. I am horrible when it comes to junk food. I am all over it. I’m a chocolate freak.
Me: Have you ever been in love?
Barbie: Yes, about two months ago.
Me: What happened?
Barbie: He was murdered two weeks ago.
(I felt very bad for asking her this question, So I moved along quickly to the next question.)
Me: What is the most common question you get from customers?
Barbie: Where am I from, my nationality. I am Puerto Rican and Black. My dad is Puerto Rican and my mom is Black.
Me: Do you like to go on stage?
Barbie: Yes, I love it. Stage is my favorite part. I love entertaining the whole crowd. I like a room full of people rather then one person. I am nervous one on one. I would rather have other people around.
Me: What did you think the first time you were on stage?
Barbie: Nervous. I remember butterflies.  The thing of it is I have an older sister who danced before me. She showed me how. I have no rhythm. It is different than dancing in a regular nightclub.
Me: What do you think about when you give a lap dance?
Barbie: The music a lot. I’m a big music freak. I like to feel the music and the vibe of everyone in the room. I love to feel like I’m being watched.
Me: What do you think about right before you go on stage?
Barbie: My ex-boyfriend… A lot. Cause it was always that I loved him so much. He really enjoyed coming into the club and seeing me on stage. He said it was like I went into a “phone booth” and changed. At home I am so homeless person like.
Me: Do you prefer dancing on stage or in private?
Barbie: On stage. I’m an onstage girl. I love the crowed.
Me: If you won a million dollars, what would you do first?
Barbie: Give it all to my mom. Every last penny would go to her. As long as she’s fine I’m fine.
Me: Do you like Feature Entertainers?
Barbie: Yes. I would say that I love seeing girls from other places. I love to see new ideas and that is what Features do.
Me: Do you get along with the other dancers?
Barbie: Yes I do.
