Free Speech Revolution Interview With Scott Of Gargirls

by M. Dickinson

1. How long have you been in the industry? How did you get started? Have you had fun?

Well, if you count me peeking at my first Playboy magazine in the back of my dad’s car at 5 years of age… I’ve been in the industry a long time…LOL.
If you’re talking about the beginning of my Gargirls… relatively recent… late 2004 to early 2005.

What sent me into full creation of them and continuing them with a story line was my work lay-off at the Rocketdyne facility for the Rockwell International/Boeing companies in late 2003; the Rocketdyne Division makes the 3 rocket engines for the NASA Space Shuttle.

Along with searching for a new job I went to a “Make money with your own porn website” seminar in Hollywood. Everybody had said sex sells so I thought I would at least listen. Since my son was an actor/model at the time (not porn) I knew what it would take to pay models to do a site… a lot of frickin’ money! As a result I then got busy making several preliminary erotic 3D pictures with the Poser and Bryce 3D programs I had on my computer. At the end of the seminar, after everyone had left, I asked the speaker if he though my examples of my works/creations would be good enough for the Internet. He said they were different and nitchy but felt they could sell.

The very next day I began, in earnest, to truly explore and study existing artists on the internet. I found, as I already knew, I did not possess their skill, training nor their available resources to compete visually with them. To be even remotely successful, I felt I needed to develop a character or characters that would separate me from these extraordinarily talented people. That was when my first thought of a sexy, beautiful, immensely strong and deadly creature that call their human prey “sheeple”
came to my mind. My two 3D renders of “A cold and Lonely Place” and “Ooooh… That Touch of Silk” were the very beginnings of my Gargirls.

As far as me having fun…? Since that time I have created over 200 plus 3D creations and have loved every minute of it. Yes, there’s been ups and down, I won’t deny that, but every time I sit down at my computer, I truly do not know what I’m going to create next or what twist I may come up with for my friends that enjoy my work. It’s that not know what will happen next that keeps me going.

2) Are you concerned with the rights of artists to make art free of censorship and intimidation?

Yes, I am concerned with artist’s rights to create art free of censorship and intimidation. However, I do believe that there should be censorship of an individual whose age is below 18. But because pornography is so readily accessible to everyone, this censorship should come from the parents of these underage children. There are many tools available to restrict access if someone, at a parental level, so desires it. But to stop an artist from creating or making art criminal, at most levels, before a piece of work gets published, especially if it is within the written law, is not right.

3) Tell me a little about your site and your work?

LOL! Ahhh yes… my site! Currently I’m a victim of being an artist who stupidly allowed someone else to have control of their own site; an initial work/colleague/friendship thing. As a result, my site is mysteriously down.. but only temporarily. I am in the process of re-creating the whole thing… a lesson to be learned type thing. When it does finally get up and running it will be mainly a place where you can purchase products from me personally; anything from 8.5 x 11in and 13 x 19in prints to hopefully “mischievous” lingerie, or perfume (the girls call it ‘repellant’). It will also have an area that tells of where and how they live… in the Czech Republic, Sudeten Mountains, in extensive catacombs under the city of Liberic. I chose Liberec as it seemed somewhat a mysterious part of Europe, Bohemians and all, plus my ancestors came from there.

Right now, if you wish to see my work, there are several places you can go… http://Zazzle.com (Gargirls), http://Cafepress.com, http://Raunchyminds.com (I’m “weenie” there), http://Deviantart.com (I’m “weenie2” there) and http://Renderotica.com (I’m “weenie” there too).
Currently I am also under contract with my wholesale art publisher “Land of Myth and Not”.

4) How do you come up with the ideas for your gargirls? Do you use real people as inspiration or what?

As I mentioned earlier, I came up with the Gargirl idea because I felt I had to do something totally different than what was out there on the Internet. Every artist, I found, has done one form or another of sexy females but none that I know of to the depth of my Gargirls.

As far as where I get my inspiration from? As I began posting my first pictures of my girls I found I started getting actual responses from the same people over and over. I also found that the more pictures a created the more responses I got from the same people. I also noticed that my “hit” count, on each successive picture, grew in number. It was clear the Gargirls were slowly becoming, at the least, known in certain erotic art communities.

Also, every once-in-a-while, besides the typical “great pic… I love it”
type comments, I would get very special and insightful questions/responses which would make me think about something I hadn’t before. On one of my first posts one German gentleman actually asked where the girls lived in the Czech Republic… as if they were real. After laughing to myself, I then went and googled the Czech Republic. When I replied… “In catacombs under the city of Liberec” he responded and said “They live right next to me!”
It is these type of fun responses and fans that truly challenge me in a way that I can’t help but get inspired.

5) You ever worry that it offends someone?

I really don’t worry about my work offending anyone as I don’t think, by the responses I’ve received, that any one has ever been bothered. My Gargirls may not be their cup of tea but I don’t believe I’ve ever offended anyone with them…

Hmmm well… on second thought… maybe. I’ll try to answer that in question 9.

6) What do you think about cartoons in the mainstream media. Do you ever get offended by shows like South Park or Family Guy? What do you think about shows/writing that offends people?

I don’t mind cartoons in the mainstream media at all. As far as South Park and Family Guy… actually I’m jealous that someone has found a money making cartoon equivalent of the “Pet Rock”. Believe me… that is not a criticism but a compliment from me. With little creative drawing effort these shows have shown their popularity. To me, as you’ve hinted, it’s not so much the effort to make the art work itself in these cartoons but the actual dialogue that makes them unique. The characters are like our alter-egos.
People we wish we were in real life but can’t be. My hat’s goes off to all of them.

On a further note, the movie “The Blair Witch Project” is a similar movie example. For a cost of less than $30,000 that movie made well over $250 million (don’t quote me on that though…LOL). Seems people don’t mind cheap easy reality stuff.

7) Why do you think America has such a fascination with sex and with sexuality, be it in a person or in art?

Just as an example, you can take photos of war, draw pictures of wars/famous battles- and be considered an outstanding historic artist and get your work in newspapers and museums, yet you start doing the same and involve sexuality and all of a sudden you’re a pervert or doing something obscene.

Believe me, I’ve had several conversations similar to this subject and it gets quite complicated… real U.C.L.A. philosophy stuff…LOL I’ll really try to make sense… here goes…!!!

I think a lot of this perverted/obscene thinking has to do with the way people are taught and controlled in dealing with certain “required”
perceptions in society. Sex, on a personal level can be beautiful but it can also be hurtful. It is also deemed more private by most civilized worlds. If a society doesn’t want it around what better way to help keep in under control than by calling it “perverted/obscene”.

On the other hand war, social pictures, etc., although at times they can be quite horrific, dramatic, can have a great social impact, whether it be good or bad. But unlike sex, I believe society weirdly deems war, as opposed to sex, acceptable visually. War can also be a good learning tool that can be taught at all age levels.

In my opinion, the reason why society treats sex most times as a “Taboo”
is because at the true core of it’s purpose, is something very simple and something humans do not want to face and… it has nothing to do with pleasure. Simply put, sex is a primitive animalistic process that was originally used to guarantee the existence of the human race and that is all.

The following isn’t a popular thought but in my opinion women were originally designed to be controlled. As in almost every race or species, in order to succeed there had/has to be the control of one individual over the other, usual the male over the female. That is why the male is stronger and his organs are responsible for penetration. Whether you like it or not the male is the giver. In sex his acts are more offensive, violent, and controlling. The female is designed to simply take what the male gives her already primed body. She literally can just lye there, do nothing, and still get pregnant. Unlike what people think of women today, that, to me, is not a gender that has control of the future existence of the human race.

And think about this… Could you imagine, in the cave man days, if the female was able to decide if she was to be impregnated or not? We would have been extinct a long time ago. It’s different now, in this present day, because of laws and equal rights. We all have to follow socially accepted/politically correct rules or else. Not to sound like a male chauvinist but women who say… ”without us there would be no human race”
are flat out wrong. If it came down to our existence as a race, believe me, women would no longer have any say. They would be simply tied to a bed, impregnated, force fed for nine months, and then be helped with the birth of their forced upon new born child.

As I mentioned before, this idea of creating thoughts of perversion/obscenity around “sex” is a good way to keep it under social control. The more you stir the pervert pot the more you squish any of the “original” truths… truths that are based on pure survival, not emotions.

8) Do you think other artists care?

I don’t really think other artists do care. In the long run though, it really doesn’t matter if other artists care or not. The most important thing to know is how hard to push for your cause and when you go too far, knowing when to run when the guys in dark blue suits and guns show up…LOL.

9) Have you been involved with trying to change people’s opinions about free speech?

In several instances I’ve not so much been involved trying to change opinions but having to defend mine. As you may have noticed my girls have a very border line 16 to 18 year old look. This is quite deliberate as in my mind part of a gargirl’s hunting skills is their innocent eye candy look.

Anyway, because of that, at one place I posted at, I was all-of-a-sudden labeled a pedophile. Well with government scanning files and computers with programs such as “Carnivore” (a program they say no longer
exists…right) I took an offense to this person’s irresponsible comments. I soon found that this guy had other people who agreed with him, not so much against my art but because they liked him so whatever he wrote they would agree with. As you can imagine, it was quite frustrating as most other people felt my work was maybe, at the most, iffy, but still acceptable.
They fought against me, not because of my controversial work but because they liked this ass and he didn’t like me. It was very strange to say the least.

Anyway, a huge forum battle then ensued at the site, with a very close friend of mine finally calling up “Title 18” in my defense. Basically, and you probably already know, Title 18 is about child pornography. It also deals with only real human children… not ‘created’ art of children as paragraph 11 of the document states…

(11) The term “indistinguishable” used with respect to a depiction, means virtually indistinguishable, in that the depiction is such that an ordinary person viewing the depiction would conclude that the depiction is of an actual minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct. This definition does not apply to depictions that are drawings, cartoons, sculptures, or paintings depicting minors or adults

If people like this guy had their way, could you imagine all the famous and most beloved art that contained cupids and cherubs was labeled “kiddy porn”?

Anyway, after that I never posted there again, despite people loving my work and assuring me that the jerk was booted from the site… a “Danny” I believe was his name.
I still and probably will continue to push the TOS (Term of Service) wherever I go… or at least until those guys with the dark blue suits and guns show up. LOL

10) Is fictional art, be it drawings, paintings, etc made from ideas from someone’s mind, the same as real photos etc. The point I am getting at is if you create something obscene out of your mind, is it or should it be considered as the same as if it actually happens.

I believe I answered this question in part in question 9. Although “Title 18” does exclude “created” art from real life I do believe there should be a moral line one should exercise as an artist.

I also believe that creating art out of ones mind is the same or at least, at a minimum, very similar to creating art through a camera. To me, it’s the thought process that counts. I’ve taken all sorts of pics with a camera, some naughty and some not, and to be honest when I create a naughty 3D pic my thinking is very, very similar. Again, it’s the thinking process that everyone should focus on, not so much the medium that was used to portray the artists work. The n=medium is irrelevant.

I also think, as far as what I now know and what I have learned through my ”Title 18” disputes, artists can take an unjust advantage of the written law and get away with it. Just because someone drew it, doesn’t mean he was any less a pedo than the guy who took a real kiddy porn photo with a camera.

11) What is your website?

Like I said, right now, my site is down but not out. You can find me at the following: http://Zazzle.com (Gargirls), http://Cafepress.com, http://Raunchyminds.com (I’m “weenie” there), http://Deviantart.com (I’m “weenie2” there) and http://Renderotica.com (I’m “weenie” there too).
Currently I am also under contract with my wholesale art publisher “Land of Myth and Not”.

12) Anything else you’d like to add:

I just want to thank you for giving me the time of day. I hope I gave you something you can use. If you ever need me for anything just let me know.
