Free Speech Revolution Interview with Cherry Ferretti
by M. Dickinson
1) How long have you been in the industry? How did you get started? Have you had fun in the industry?
I’ve been in since I was 17 actually. I got started when my good friend, whom I call my “porn daddy, lol, hooked me up with a friend of his who was a cam girl. She ran her own company with her boyfriend doing cam shows for $2/min for one person and $3/min for two. Of course I.D. wasn’t necessary because there was no 2257 then and my pictures weren’t posted anywhere. I just appeared in her shows basically. Then, once I was 18, I started doing films with Thursday Night Video TNVideo.com and it took off from there.
2) Are you concerned with the rights of the adult industry to make and produce movies/web clips?
Not at all actually. A female or male has to sign consent forms in order to perform, so then the producers can and use the movies/clips as they want. As long as it’s consensual and they have the model’s permission to post, there’s no reason to be concerned.
3) A lot of the problem people have with the adult industry is the misconception that “pornographers” are always trying to lure under age people in and make “kiddie porn”.
Could you talk about what it is actually like on a set, as far as having ID, signing model releases, having a AIM test, etc? Have you seen or heard of anyone in the legitimate adult industry knowingly using minors in films or the web?
You have to have two forms of I.D., driver’s license and social security card, or something that the state can inspect. They have to have copies of these forms, you have to sign a model release before you can shoot, an official and valid AIM test must be presented, otherwise you cannot work.
It’s for your safety and the safety of the other models. I have never known a legitimate company underage girls on film, or even allowing them on set.
4) Do you ever get offended by shows like South Park or Family Guy? What do you think about shows/writing that offends people?
Offended by shows? That’s ridiculous.. Basically I feel that if you don’t like it, don’t watch it! They have the right to say/ make fun of anyone that they want, and they really don’t need to have any reason to do it, it’s just the matter that they can. Good for them for realizing that and not censoring anything but what the media forces them to.
5) What do you think about some of the stuff that pushes the limit in the adult industry, stuff like Max Hardcore, Kink.com, JM Productions?
I LOVE it!! I’d kill to work for Kink! People have different fetishes and interests that should be explored on film. Some people need “guidance” in order to pursue they’re fetishes, and what better way than an “instructional” video! lol
6) Have you ever been asked to do a scene or something on film that you thought was crazy and wondered if it was offensive/legal? What was it? Did you do the scene or the act anyway?
When I worked for TNV I did a “chloroform” video. We didn’t really use it, but I always wondered what it’d be like if we did, and if they had to do anything legally to prove that we didn’t really use the chloroform, although, I don’t think our acting was that good, we are just porn actresses.
7) Why do you think America has such a fascination with sex and with regulating sex?
It’s our puritan background. It’s one of the few things that most feel that they need to keep pure, and sacred, and between two people.
A lot of people in the industry have told me that most the people in the industry don’t care about protecting free speech, or really about anyone other then themselves and their money. Do you think this is true?
Do you think a lot of the people that are new to the industry care or have any concern about free speech and protecting the right to make movies?
Absolutely not, I think that if any person in the adult industry has even a little bit of brains they would realize that free speech allows us to work as we do, and make they money that we’re making. I’m personally a huge supporter free speech, but I’m am not a supporter of spreading hate.
That is where I draw the line with “free speech.”
9) Is the “character” you play in your DVD’s anything like you in real life?
>From what my friends tell me I am. In fact, most of them say the camera
brings out a lot of my personality.. but there are some differences, I mean I’m not always naked, and having sex! ha ha!
10) What is the craziest thing you have done/or scene you’ve been in on camera?
Craziest, well, I’d have to say honestly besides the chloroform shoot, it’d have to be my shoot with Sean McCall. Annie Cruz and I did two scenes, one was a lesbian vampire scene, and the other was an alien birth scene. For the alien scene, Annie had to “extract” my “dna” from me, and then insert it into herself to create an alien baby. We had to actually pretend that she was giving birth, and the alien was all slimy. The nun scene was funny for me, Annie was a vampire and I was a good little nun – ha! and she had to seduce me into having desires to fuck the cross that I was wearing around my neck. I could see how some people would definitely find that offensive, but I didn’t at all. I guess I’m open-minded.
It was fun though definitely! I’d do it again in a heart beat!
11) Have you been involved with trying to change people’s opinions about the industry?
Definitely!! So many people when they hear what I do, they always think it’s so dirty, that we’re all walking around with gonosyphilherpleaids.
And that we don’t use protection, and that we just go around in our real lives and screw anyone. I know I can’t speak for everyone in the industry, but I’m definitely not like that! If talent wants to use protection, then they have the right to use it, it’s a lot cleaner than people think.
12) Why do you think the industry is so caught up on the portrayal of
young- a lot of DVD’s always say “18 & 19 years old” etc?
Again, it’s how Americans feel that they want to keep sex pure, I mean, who doesn’t want to be with a virgin? It’s the whole innocence factor.
13) What is your website?
http://cherryferretti.com, I’m working on it right now, so you can add me on myspace..
