13th Annual EroticaLA Flourishes In Harsh Economy
Los Angeles, CA The organizers of the 13th annual Erotica LA owned and operated by AVN Media Network, Inc. exhaled as the official numbers of the show were revealed.
Even as the adult industry contracts due to the tough economy, Erotica LA flourished with fans wanting to meet their favorite adult celebrities and shop for the best deals on erotic products and services. There were 150 exhibitors and nearly 30,000 consumers who attended the event.
Show organizers report that the attendance was strong and exhibitor sales were very robust. Plus, the event received impressive media coverage throughout the weekend from outlets including FOX News, the Los Angeles Times, NBC, E!, G4, and Playboy TV. In addition, pre-show coverage was strong which included multiple mentions by The Tonight Shows host, Conan OBrien and coverage by Good Morning LAs anchor, Steve Edwards.
“There was a continuous line out the door for at least nine hours on Saturday and most of the day on Sunday,” explains Renee Johnson, the Senior Show Manager. “Were not only super happy for all the consumers that came out, but were very, very relieved.”
In order to drive consumer traffic, AVN partnered with top consumer outlets in Los Angeles, including Power 106, KROQ 106.7, 98.7, the L.A. Weekly and CBS Outdoor. Plus, the internet became more of an integral part of Erotica LA this year than ever before with AVNs first mobile site, m.erotica-la.com and the expanded outreach via social media networks such as Twitter, Facebook and Myspace.
“Fans really respond well to the social networks because of how personal and interactive they can be these outlets emulate a community, although virtual, of friends and people of similar interests. Plus they give fans a very intimate look into the lives of their favorite porn stars,” explains Johnson. “Twitter was beyond successful for the show due to the number of adult celebrities that have embraced this technology.”
“Leading up to the event, there were hundreds of daily tweets about Erotica LA,” Johnson goes on to explain. “Anything from what products would be available to what the porn stars would be wearing was being discussed. This definitely built a lot of excitement.”
On hand at the event to meet and greet fans and attend the 4th annual F.A.M.E. Awards were hundreds of the worlds hottest adult celebrities, including: Tera Patrick, Belladonna, Ron Jeremy, Jenna Haze, Sunny Lane, Joanna Angel and her Burning Angels, Sunny Leone, Nikki Benz, Lupe Fuentes, Bree Olson, and Kayden Kross to name a few. Plus, there were daily appearances by all the Wicked Pictures Contract Stars: Stormy Daniels, Alektra Blue, jessica drake, Kirsten Price, Mikayla Mendez, Randy Spears and Kaylani Lei.
Show organizers are looking into several options for next years show dates which will be released shortly.
