Digital Playground Receives 82 Different AVN Nominations- Yes That’s This Year

December 1, 2008 — VAN NUYS, Calif. — Digital Playground received an amazing 82 nominations in 63 different categories for the 2009 AVN Awards.  Joone’s epic blockbuster “Pirates II: Stagnetti’s Revenge” set an individual record with 30 nominations, including Best Video Feature.  Joone and partner Samantha Lewis have always believed in producing a diverse catalog of the highest quality movies, so in addition to “Pirates II”, 16 other hit Digital Playground movies and 13 series received nominations.  Jesse Jane® is nominated for Female Performer of the Year in addition to her Best Actress nomination for “Pirates II”.  Stoya™ is nominated for Best New Starlet, which she won at the Venus Awards in Berlin, and Robby D. is nominated for Director of the Year, which he also won at the Venus Awards.

Digital Playground dominated many categories with multiple nominations.  “Deeper”, “Erotique”, “Filth Cums First”, “Naked Aces”, and “Sexual Freak” are all up for Best Continuing Series.  Both “Pirates II” and “Cheerleaders” are nominated for Best High-Definition Production, while “Cheerleaders” is also nominated for Best Vignette Release alongside “Deeper 10”.  “Cheerleaders” was announced as AVN’s 2008 Best Renting Title of the Year and Best Selling Title of the Year.

With an impressive list of nominated Digital Playground titles, “Pirates II: Stagnetti’s Revenge” is the movie on everyone’s lips.  “‘Pirates II’ getting 30 nominations was truly unprecedented,” says Paul Fishbein, President of AVN Media Network.  “I think what made it unique is that it was shot like a regular narrative film.  To do that, you need excellent acting, and the film got 10 nominations for acting alone.”
