Here's another local jam that might not even be popular north of Orlando, but is a must-play track for DJs inside of black strip clubs. Bizzle wrote this song specifically for strippers and the strip club market. LOS ANGELES — A new musical based on the life and times of “Deep Throat” star Linda Lovelace opens Oct. 18 at the Hayworth Theater in Los Angeles and runs through Nov. 23.
“Linda Lovelace: A Rock Opera” is based on the book, music and lyrics of Charlotte Caffey (founding member of girl group The Go-Go’s) and Anna Waronker. Newcomer Katrina Lenk stars in the title role.

“I was first attracted to the human interest side of Linda’s story and then fell in love with the idea of it being a musical,” Caffey said. “Most people know Linda as just being ‘the Deep Throat’ girl, but through songs ranging from delicate ballads to big production numbers, we are telling a bigger story of this woman’s life. I have been able to utilize all of my musical experience in writing ‘Lovelace.’ I loved the challenge of weaving the story through the songs and watching the songs come to life with the acting. This has been a highlight of my professional life, and I believe ‘Lovelace” features my best song writing to date.”

Caffey brings major songwriting credentials to the project having penned the Go-Go’s hits “We Got The Beat,” “Vacation” and “Head Over Heels.” She’s also written songs with Courtney Love, Lindsey Buckingham, Keith Urban, Andy Summers, Heart and Jewel.

I have a soft spot in my heart for the Iowa strip clubs since we helped open some of the biggest clubs in the state a few years ago. They won the case the first two times, seems like Iowa has some sore losers.

DES MOINES, Iowa — A Fremont County judge ruled that nude dancing was an art and ruled in favor of an Iowa dance club owner. The state’s attorney general wants that ruling reviewed.
In August of this year, Judge Timothy O’Grady found that prosecutors failed to prove that Shotgun Geniez in Hamburg, Iowa wasn’t a theater.

The state’s obscenity law doesn’t apply to a “theater, concert hall, art center, museum or similar establishments” devoted to the arts or theatrical performances.

“The district court found that while this was primarily a strip club, that the theater exemption still applies,” Iowa Assistant Attorney General Mary Tabor said. “We’re just asking for a different interpretation of those exemptions.”

The club, Shotgun Geniez, came under scrutiny when a 17-year-old girl climbed up on the stage and stripped off her clothes in July 2007.

Tabor said the club’s owner could not be tried again due to double jeopardy. If the Supreme Court agrees to hear the case, however, and interprets the statute differently, it could affect similar future cases in Iowa.

At the time of publication, no date has been set for the court’s decision.
